Our festival season is approaching fast. Here is a list of seven events in and around Louisa County that offer good times this summer.

  1. The season in Louisa County starts with a Cinco de Mayo celebration in Columbus Junction. Enjoy the food; discover Banda; and practice your Spanish.
  2. Burlington’s Steamboat Days is a music festival that features regional and national bands.
  3. If you prefer arts and crafts, the Snake Alley Art Fair features a delightful mix of talented regional artists spread out along the worlds most crooked street.
  4. In June, the TrekFest in nearby Riverside provides the chance to see the future boyhood home of James T. Kirk and meet some of the cast.
  5. Come July, you’re welcome to join us for Louisa County’s 4th of July celebrations and Chief Wapello Days. We are very excited about the PRCA rodeo that will be part of this year’s Chief Wapello Days.
  6. Soon after that come the county fairs. The Louisa County Fair features an intense chili cook-off and a multicultural night that will tickle your taste buds with authentic foods from several countries south of the border.
  7. The Old Thrasher’s Reunion on Labor Day weekend in nearby Mt. Pleasant finishes the season. It attracts huge crowds for its music and living history displays.
