One evening about a week and a half ago, I walked down to the river to check the water levels.  I was pleasantly surprised to see new residents in the neighborhood.  Three fox cubs were playing near a thicket about half-way down the bank.  They were silver with black patches on the tips of their ears.  FG suggested they were actually coyotes; but a friend who lives nearby saw them about a week later and reports they are turning the usual fox red.  Though I’d seen both  fox and coyotes on the country roads, I’d never seen cubs before and I certainly didn’t expect to see them inside the city limits.
